WE ARE CHANGE ARCHITECTS

… who combine a deep understanding of social, cultural and political dynamics and of communications to help ethical businesses, organisations and governments to survive and flourish.

About Mason Change Communications

Mason Change Communications is an advisory firm that helps businesses, other organisations and governments to achieve their change objectives.

As a company dedicated to helping to build and safeguard societies that are free, fair and open, we only work for clients who share these values.

MCC was founded in 2014 to help the Government of Ukraine to create effective communications structures, processes, and campaigns to promote its own reform agenda and to counter Russia’s malign influence campaign.

On behalf of the British embassy in Kyiv, MCC guided the Government of Ukraine’s external communications through crises including Russia’s shooting down of flight MH-17 and landmark events such as its first free and fair presidential election. MCC also developed the Government of Ukraine’s communications capacity and our team of 20 skilled, experienced, and highly motivated Ukrainian communications professionals designed, planned, and implemented campaigns on energy security, decentralisation, and IDPs.

MCC is currently active in contested spaces around the world.

Insight and understanding:

MCC combines target audience analysis with an unusually sophisticated understanding of political, economic and social environments and of the social change processes required to achieve clients’ objectives.

Strategy and capacity development:

MCC designs new structures and processes and advises, trains and mentors individuals and teams to achieve their change objectives.

Media:

Alone and in collaboration with trusted partners, MCC produces all forms of communications – network quality video and audio stories, longer format programmes, online campaigns and speeches for prominent individuals; and supports crisis communications.

Most projects combine elements of all three lines of activity, with insights and understanding informing new strategies that entail creating new capabilities and content that is disseminated through a wide variety of channels.

Here are some examples:

In a major European country, MCC’s understanding that a lack of coordination among ministers was undermining domestic and international confidence led us to create a cross-government coordination body; advising that body as it responded to major crises and planned campaigns to promote priority reforms; and the creation of a full spectrum of media content to promote them.

In a major Muslim-majority country, MCC’s recognition that the members of the target audience tended not to trust the client led to the creation of a network of local leaders as advisors and goodwill ambassadors who distributed material that they created in collaboration with MCC.

In another major Muslim-majority country, MCC’s knowledge of a community that had supplied manpower to terrorist groups led us to advise the client on how to include members of this community in a high-profile and ongoing campaign to counter violent extremism by identifying and cultivating shared values
